Brita's Brilliantly Filtering Out Negativity

For my final post,  I am going to end on a positive note from Brita! :)

This week the water filtering company, Brita, has developed a clever and forward-looking campaign to help end cyberbullying.

With the help of Stephen Curry and The Cybersmile Foundation, Brita created the #FilterYourFeed Campaign on Twitter. If you go to FilterYourFeed.com, you can get rid of all your negative tweets that you have posted in the past, and replace them with happier ones.

The replacement ones may include Steph with a puppy, eating ice cream, or dunking.

When filtering your feed, it looks for negative keywords like awful, dumb, fat, hate, nerd, pathetic, sucks, ugly and many others. You can check out some of my negative tweets from early high school.

With some of the tweets not intentionally being mean, you get to check all the ones you want to get rid of, and keep the light hearted ones.

To make the campaign even better, every time someone filters their feed, Brita donates to The Cybersmile Foundation, an anti-bullying nonprofit. Brita will also donate to the charity for every positive replacement featuring Steph Curry that is shared until May 3rd. Retweets don't count.

This is an awesome campaign from Brita, so get filtering! More filtering means more puppies and everyone wants that.

Coca-Cola is Back in the Big Leagues

Opening Day in MLB yeahhhh!!

Just in time for Opening Day, Coca-Cola has taken over as the official soft drink of Major League Baseball. They snagged the spot from PepsiCo, who has been the sponsor since 1997 (ouch). Coke has been posting subtle hints all across their social channels, and retweeting from the official MLB page.

Now with Coke being a main league sponsor, they get insight into MLB's digital and social channels. They can collaborate with the brand to really hit it out of the park.  Although Pepsi is no longer a sponsor of the league, they are still team sponsors of 11 teams, while Coke sponsors 18. It's will be interesting to compare the soda brands, Coke being the new brand for the whole league and Pepsi being the long term old sponsor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coke is all over the sports industry recently.
Yesterday was the NCAA Championship and UNC Chapel Hill took home the trophy! Woohooo! After the final buzzer, Coca-Cola handed out personalized UNC cans to Tar Heels fans as they left the stadium.
Coca-Cola is really on top of their marketing!
Domino's Day Off
Welcome back!
Domino's recently launched a new line of commercials, old school style. The commercials are designed to resemble the 1986 hit movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." They had one major change, instead of racing his parents home after ditching school all day, Ferris is racing the Domino's delivery guy home after seeing he's on his way on the tracker. He is constantly checking his tracker on his watch to know exactly what time his pizza will arrive.
The ad features familiar scenes such as jumping over hedges, through backyards, and on trampolines all to run back to the same house used in the movies. With this commercial, Domino's not only tried to get a feeling of nostalgia for those who remember when the movie first debuted, but also for the younger crowd who may recognize Ferris from the hit show "Stranger Things." Another fun aspect the audience might notice is the father figure in the commercial, played by no other than Alan Ruck, aka Cameron in the original film.
Domino's knows that the tracker is always a fun part of ordering from them, so they "tried to capture their excitement in the new ad." I think Domino's very successfully accomplished their goal. They kept it fun and light, but also showing how Domino's is adapting to modern times. In other variations of the commercial, Ferris orders on an Amazon Echo, a smart TV and his waterproof smartwatch.
Halo's Rise to the Top [of the Bracket]
If you have never heard of Halo Top ice cream before, you really need to look into it. It is a low calorie, (I mean really low, like 240 calories PER PINT!!!) high protein, low sugar all natural ice cream that really tastes like ice cream. They have a ton of delicious flavors including classics like vanilla, mint chocolate chip, and strawberry, and more outgoing ones such as pistachio, oatmeal cookie, red velvet, black cherry, sea salt caramel and many many more.
With Halo Top, you can truly eat the whole pint and not feel bad about it. Like at all. It's perfect for someone with a sweet tooth, but also wants to stay healthy (aka me). What more could you ask for in an ice cream? Here is a side by side comparison next to Ben & Jerry's that might make you question your next Chunky Monkey purchase.
So, wanna win a year's supply of Halo Top? Here's how.
Halo Top is having a March Madness contest and the winning bracket receives a year's supply of Halo Top ice cream!! They have both a women and men's bracket, so all you have to do is have a perfect bracket, simple is that. You have from 3/12 to 3/16 to enter at https://www.halotop.com/marchmadness/  so you better hurry! You can also find the contest rules on their site.
Halo Top's social media has done a great job promoting the contest, both on Instagram and Twitter. So far over 650 people have submitted their brackets. They have fun pictures and witty captions, so go check it out. On their website under the contest, all the executive employees have commented on their picks. It gives the competition a little bit more of a fun flare.
Happy bracketing and good luck!
Find a Job on Facebook???
Welcome back!
This week, Facebook rolled out a new recruiting feature, trying to prove that they will always be the number one social network.
Local business pages can now post job openings on your newsfeed through their status updates. With this feature, Facebook can now reach out to potential employees, even when they aren't actively looking for a job (but are actively scrolling through their newsfeed). Facebook also makes it easy for you to apply by having an "Apply Now" button that is autofilled with your profile information and sent in through Facebook Messenger.
Another way to find local listings is on the left side of your homepage, under "jobs" where you can filter by location, industry or job type.
The new feature is really helpful for small businesses, who are looking for part time employees, as opposed to people trying to change careers that might turn towards LinkedIn. Smaller businesses tend to be looking for casual job seekers just browsing for any opportunity that might come to the surface.
So, my question is, how do you feel about applying to a job on social media?
As a college student looking for jobs myself, that makes me a little iffy. Not because I have anything to hide, but because I want my first impression to come off as professional. Most college students nowadays are trying to hide their social identity, and show companies that you are an adult, in every way, shape and form. A student's Facebook profile might not reflect that 100%, even if they are the right candidate for the job.
Get out there and find your next side hustle!
Spreading the love one burrito at a time
Happy Valentine's day loves!
Qdoba is spreading the love with #QdobaForAKiss and wants you and a loved one to eat free!
Today they are promoting a BOGO free entreé if you share a kiss with anyone (or anything) at the register. This can be your significant other, your mom, a friend, a stranger, a picture of your cat or even your own burrito.
Not only is Qdoba spreading the love amongst the in store crowd, but also to children in need! Wow, what a great way to give back.
For every picture shared on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #QdobaForAKiss, Qdoba is donating $1 to No Kid Hungry, a charity to help end child hunger in America. That has the potential to feed a lot of kids in need. So spread the love and share some kisses!
Grab a date and your camera, and go get yourself a free meal to end childhood hunger!!
Get smooching!
Filtering out the haters
172 million Americans tuned in to Super Bowl 51 over the weekend. The game was a nail biter with the Atlanta Falcon's best offense and the New England Patriot's big defense this season. The Patriots ended up with the W, 34-28.
With that many people viewing, it would be a mistake to not take advantage of the opportunity. Gatorade decided to get in on the action, again.
For the second year in a row, Gatorade released a sponsored Snapchat lens. Sponsored lenses on Snapchat use facial detection to adapt interactive filter to your face, or other human faces you select (or dogs, pictures, or random objects that look like a face).
The sports drink maker created a filter where you get dunked with Gatorade, just like the winners. It had over 165 million users last year, so they figured they would try it again.
The lens was another huge success! Serena Williams, who is sponsored by Gatorade, even made a contribution to the filter.
Using Snapchat for Super Bowl ads is not only the best way to get your name out there, but also keep some money in your back pocket. Snapchat filters are rumored to be around $350,000 for a day, while 30 second TV commercials can cost millions. Just like people expect Super Bowl ads to be good, snap chatters expect the first spot on their filters to be just as good. On average, people spend around 20 seconds messing around with the Snapchat filters, so you better be the best one. It's a good idea to fully embrace the Snapchat platform, because it is becoming a daily experience for lots of users.
50 Shades of Kylie
Ahh, love is in the air and Kylie Jenner wants to be your valentine!
Jenner has become one of the most viewed users on Snapchat, and she is not afraid to use that title to her advantage. Kylie has created a massive cosmetic empire, and utilizes her popularity on Snapchat to advertise her brand. By showing fans sneak peaks of her products weeks before the release date, she amps up the anticipation (and her sales), by leaving viewers wanting more.
On Wednesday, January 25th, Kylie Jenner surprised her fans by revealing her upcoming Kylie Cosmetics Valentine's Day Collection via Snapchat.
The collection includes:
Two lip kits featuring new shades appropriately named Valentine and Head Over Heels. The box also includes festive sparkly red drips and a sense of nostalgia complete with a To: and From: on the back, just like the good ol' days in elementary school.
A set of mini matte liquid lipsticks, which consists of classic shades like Maliboo, Posie K, and Mary Jo K, and new shades named Apricot, High Maintenance, and Head Over Heels.
Kylie's Diary, her eye shadow and blush palette. It is designed to open like a book and expose nine eye shadow shades, both matte and metallic, and her two (first ever!) blushes.
And finally, the Valentine's Kits! Each fun sized collection comes with two lip products and two exclusive shadows. Kiss Me, Smooch, and Sweet Heart are all very fitting for the occasion. Well done, Kylie.
Since the reveal, her collection has been seen on major beauty sites such as Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue, Refinery29, and Allure. To keep her products on trend in between releases, the queen of Snapchat continues to do makeup tutorials and promote all of her Kylie Cosmetics on the app.
The Valentine's Collection officially releases for sale on February 2, 2017 at 3pm, PST at kyliecostmetics.com
Click fast! In the past, Kylie's kits have been known to sell out in less than 20 minutes! Good luck!
Very Pin-teresting
Hello and welcome back!
Pinterest: (n) a social networking site where you can find delicious recipes, cute clothes and inspirational quotes and pass them off as your own.
While scrolling through my own over-the-knee-boot and sweater combo filled Pinterest feed, I stumbled upon someone who is doing Pinterest right. UGA's very own Career Center!
 I know, I was shocked too.
Their Pinterest page is honestly one of the most helpful sites I've seen when trying to figure out anything related to getting a real job. It is well organized and has A TON of helpful articles and infographics for adulting and all things professional. They have a whopping 53 boards and 1,794 pins dedicated to everything from networking, business professional attire, personal branding and even office decor inspiration.
Even something that sounds like it has absolutely nothing to do with social media, like the Career Center, can have an impact! Their page gives valuable insight to students, young professionals and anyone else looking to advance their career.
It's nearly impossible to get a Career Center appointment anytime before three months from now, so go check them out! Their Pinterest page might have exactly the answer you are looking for.
Live from the Locker Room?
Hello readers and welcome to my blog! My name is Nina Ilario and I am currently a junior at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in digital marketing and a minor in statistics. I love the beach, my two westie puppies Roxy and Leo, Georgia Football, hanging out with my friends, the Panthers (Luke Keuchly!!😍), The Office and scrolling through social media. As part of my social media marketing class, I am required to create a blog and post weekly. So here it is! Throughout my journey of first time blogging, I want to show you how social media and digital marketing can help (or hurt) any industry. I'm going to give you examples of digital marketing in all fields of work, anywhere from fitness, to food. Social media is no longer just something middle schoolers use to "like" each other's pictures (aka flirt) on their iPads, but a business game changer. If you do it right, you're going to go big.
It's that time of year again...The NFL Playoffs.
What better way to start off the Steelers' road to Super Bowl 51 than a Facebook live video from the locker room hosted by Antonio Brown? Nope, wrong. So. Many. Better. Ways.
The video started off innocent enough, showing Brown laughing and celebrating with teammates after the win against the Chiefs. What Brown didn't mean to share was Mike Tomlin, the Steelers head coach's post-game speech. It's all fun and games until someone gets called an a******. In the background, you can hear Tomlin's speech talking about their face-off against the New England Patriot's next week, along with some not so nice name calling.
So what does all this mean exactly?
  • First off, it shows how anyone, no matter who (or how many receiving yards, 1,284!), can make mistakes when it comes to social media.
If you post it, someone is going to find it. That's that, no doubt about it. Think: future employers, teachers, coaches or worse, your grandma.
  • Posting can potentially have negative consequences
 I saw more about the Facebook live video on SportsCenter today than I did about the Steelers actually winning the game! That's for sure not good PR for the team. Brown also might wind up with a huge fine from the network, yikes.
  • Your reputation is at stake!
Today, if you Google Antonio Brown, information about the Facebook Live video is the third link. Not his stats or charity work, but his social media. You want to be known for all the good you do, not the bad. So, be careful!
  • Anything can go viral (maybe even this blog!!!)
Puppies, hot target employees, a two toned dress, flipping water bottles, you name it. It has potential.
  • Lastly, Brown's video just fueled the fire for the Patriots next week. I know the Patriots are bringing their A-game after what they were called in front of the whole internet.
Til next week!
